Colors TV has nailed it by signing on Salman to host the new season, for no other star could have created as much buzz.
Besides, a change in the show's format goes well with Salman's outspokenness.
Under the new format, the host will take to task politicking and manipulative inmates, reserving his warmth and supportiveness only for those who play clean.
His sassy makeover apart, Salman showed humility at the event, promising viewers that he will try and match up to the past Bigg Boss hosts - Arshad Warsi, Shilpa Shetty and Amitabh Bachchan.
"Shilpa Shetty and Amitabh Bachchan have done a great job in the past as the hosts of the show. I really respect them for that and I will try to match upto them," Salman told reporters at the event.
"I will try to make the audience feel there is more fun outside the house than inside," he added.
Bigg Boss is expected to air from October. It will have 14 celebrities locked in a house for close to 85 days - with 35 cameras following their every move.
Referring to speculation on why he did not return as host for Sony's 10 Ka Dum Salman said:
"I had the contract to do the first season of 10 Ka Dum. That contract is over now. If they want me to return for the second season, I would do that but right now there are no such talks, so I took this up."
Sony TV's currently full focus is on Amitabh Bachchan's Kaun Banega Crorepati which is going to be aired during the same time slot as Bigg Boss.

Salman Khan pulls an Octopus Paul
Actor Salman Khan has been given a new nickname. After Hrs has learnt that his friends have been referring to the actor as ‘Salman Paul’, given that the films he has tweeted about recently have all done well at the Box Office.
The superstition has caught on among filmmakers too, who are fast approaching Salman, to request him to see their films and tweet about it.
They feel that if Salman does so, the film will be an assured hit. They also feel that if Salman endorses a movie, his massive fan following will be encouraged to see the film.
“Salman never really tweets his opinion on films other than his. But the movies he has tweeted about of late, including the Imran Khan and Sonam Kapoor starrer I Hate Luv Storys, went on to become roaring hits. The fraternity has finally woken up and acknowledged Salman’s judgement about a film. Hence, the nickname,” says a close friend of the actor.
Salman also went on to praiseRajneeti and Houseful on Twitter and said that he hoped they become hits. The source adds, “Now filmmakers are making a beeline to make Salman see their films before their release dates. They all want to cash in on Salman’s loyal fan base.”
Of course, Salman is hoping that his good luck charm rubs off on his films too. Salman tweeted about his forthcoming film Dabaang, “Expecting it to do well.” Salman is currently busy with the finishing touches of Dabangg and could not be contacted for a comment.
